EXPORTERS OF equipment to Mozambique must provide adequate back-up service at all times. This was the message from Mozambique's transport minister, Tomaz Salamao, when he addressed guests at the official handover of new container handling equipment in Maputo harbour recently. Salamao welcomed the representatives from Durban of Kalmar Toyota SA and Amalgamated Forklift Services, who supplied the two 45ton container handlers, and called on them to be available at all times for breakdowns. "These machines we have here today are bright and new," he said, "but what we are worried about is when they get a little older and need attention. Please be there for us. It is only four hours drive to get here and service them. "Don't be like some of the other providers we have had in the past who sell us the goods but cannot get here when needed later on."
