MAERSK LOGISTICS has demonstrated its compliance with new US Customs legislation well in advance of the deadline date. The company successfully transmitted manifest data to the US Customs Automated Manifest System (AMS) 20 days prior to US Customs’ date of enforcement on February 2. Its first transmission to AMS was sent on January 14. One of the first to be certified by US Customs to transmit manifest data into the Automated Manifest System, the company can offer important benefits to clients as a result, said Anthony A. Chiarello, president of Maersk Logistics. These include the pre-screening of manifest information which eliminates or reduces fines or rejects, and the transmission of accurate data which ensures cargo is loaded onto US-bound vessels in a timely fashion and in compliance with US Customs standards
