MAERSK LINE is in the process of establishing its own dedicated office in East London following the start of its direct service from the Port of East London to Europe via its dedicated hub terminal in Algeciras, Spain.

The weekly service will open up new avenues for exporters and importers dealing directly with European clients, says Maersk sales executive, Mervyn Berowsky, who is optimistic about future growth of business in the area.

Volumes of cargo in and out of East London are increasing, and as new industrial development takes its shape in the region, we will be there to assist, he says.

Jimmy Weir is to be the branch manager and a recruiting drive is currently in progress to establish staff in the offices, situated in the Cape Cladding building near Buffalo Park and in close proximity to the majority of clearing and forwarding agents.
