INCREASED COSTS have seen Lykes Lines imposing a general rate increase (GRI) from March 1 for all northbound cargo from SA to North America. The increase will first be applied to Voyage 013 (the Lykes Raider). It will add US$100 per 20-foot equivalent unit (TEU) and US$200 per 40-ft (FEU) to containerised dry and refrigerated cargo. The rate increase for bulk and breakbulk cargo, said the line, “will be implemented on an individual commodity basis”.
