Barloworld Logistics donated R96 000 to Stop Hunger Now Southern Africa (SHN SA) and actively participated in the organisation’s International Mandela Day 2017: Rise against Hunger Meal Packaging Event.
Teams were tasked with packing a maximum of 15 boxes of food packages per 67-minute shift, with Barloworld Logistics teams participating in all four shifts.
“As a company whose values include teamwork and sustainability, we felt it was important to live out these values by coming together to help pack these food packs that will sustain the greater community,” said a Barloworld Logistics spokesperson.
SHN SA is a volunteer-based meal-packaging and results-oriented nutrition programme, which was started in South Africa in 2009. The food packages consist of rice, soya, dehydrated vegetable mix and a fortification pack of 23 essential minerals and vitamins specifically formulated to combat malnutrition.
