Logistics major merger creates muscular brand

Bolloré Africa Logistics has merged its subsidiary companies SAEL and SDV, effective since April 1. The new entity is now known as SDV South Africa.
“The objective of this operation is to provide SAEL and SDV clients both in South Africa and across the entire region with expertise in logistics functions aimed at industrial projects, in handling freight forwarding throughout Africa and setting up multimodal and transit services,” says managing director of SDV South Africa Ken McDonald.
South African clients can tap into the resources of SDV, which specialises in freight forwarding within Europe, the Middle East, the United States and Southeast Asia, as well as those of Bolloré Africa Logistics, which offers an integrated logistics network and operates public-private partnerships in Africa's port and rail sectors, he said.
SDV South Africa will be an integral part of Bolloré Africa Logistics, which has a presence in 55 countries worldwide, including 45 in Africa, with a workforce of 25 000. It offers the full scope of logistics-related services including vessel operations, inland distribution, freight forwarding and clearance, supply chain management and warehousing and industrial project logistics.
SDV South Africa has five dedicated offices in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth and Richards Bay, employing 616 people with a combined turnover topping R4 billion.
