Cross-border trade between South Africa and Zimbabwe could expand after the Limpopo Economic Development Agency (LEDA) and ZimTrade signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening trade, investment and regional value chains.
The agreement seeks to increase collaboration between businesses in Limpopo and Zimbabwe, improve market access and promote investment opportunities, with a focus on expanding trade between the neighbouring economies.
The two organisations said they would work together to identify export opportunities, support small and medium-sized enterprises, facilitate business-to-business engagements and encourage joint investment initiatives.
According to LEDA and ZimTrade, the agreement is intended to strengthen regional value chains by encouraging closer cooperation between producers, manufacturers and exporters on both sides of the border.
The partnership would also promote collaboration between businesses to identify new trade and investment opportunities and strengthen regional economic integration, the organisations said.
