THE ELEONORA Maersk, latest in the series of 11 000 TEU vessels built by the Odense Steel Shipyard, was named at the weekend. Like her predecessors, Emma Maersk and Estelle Maersk, she incorporates new safety and environmental standards. Environmentally friendly silicone paint covers the hull of the vessel below the waterline reducing water resistance and cutting the vessel’s fuel consumption by 1 200 tonnes per year.
