FORWARDING MAJOR Kuehne & Nagel has bought a 51% shareholding in Nakufreight (Mauritius), its agent on the island since 1989. The deal gives Nakufreight access to Kuehne & Nagel's global network and the group's advanced information technology while for Kuehne & Nagel the joint venture strengthens its position in Mauritius and on the Indian Ocean Islands, says Karl-Heinz Balzer, regional director for sub-Saharan Africa. "We have ambitious objectives, among them increasing our share in export traffic on the main trade lanes, both on sea and air." Nakufreight is based in Port Louis with a total staff of 25.
