Kelly to chair Fesarta

Gavin Kelly of the Road Freight Association (RFA) has been appointed chairman of the Federation of East and Southern African Road Transport Associations (Fesarta) board. He was the organisation’s former vice-chairman and takes over from Paul Mayo from Kenya, who did not stand for re-election after being the first East African to chair the organisation that deals with transport issues across East and Southern Africa. Commenting on the appointment, Barney Curtis, executive director of Fesarta, said: “Gavin is extremely pro-active and hands-on and has served as a link between Fesarta and the RFA, playing an instrumental role in many of the regional issues that have come up.” Brian Shone, managing director of Kasembo Transport in Zambia, was elected vice-chairman, while Willie du Toit, managing director of FP du Toit Transport in Namibia, and Al-Karim Dawood of the Tanzanian Truck Owners Association (Tatoa), were nominated and accepted as directors of the board. CAPTION Gavin Kelly ... takes the Fesarta reins.
