IN LINE with its new focus on export business, Katlego Global Logistics has gained a stronger foothold in the charter market, particularly for exports into Africa. A lucrative source of business for the BEE company has been United Nations business, with several charters moving into Iraq and Afganistan, says managing director Moses Maboi. Government contracts are also adding impetus into Africa with Katlego sharing some major contracts with several other BEE majors. “We compete on an equal basis with the larger and more established companies,” says Maboi. “We have the necessary licences and skills to carry goods for the likes of the defence industry, and it’s a field in which we see significant growth potential. “Our aim is to increase charter business by 10-20% in the next two months, and with our alliances with aircraft operators and access to government contracts, it’s an objective which we are confident of achieving.”
