KEVIN MAYHEW THE GENERALLY positive assessment of security at Johannesburg International Airport has one dissenting voice who would prefer to deal exclusively with Lanseria Airport. Managing director of Tramon Air, Daniel Coetzer, says he finds security hard to observe when at JIA. “It is all very well lauding the new gates and improvements, but what about control of palletised freight. I see very little security there,” he contends. Tramon Air operates its own passenger and freighter aircraft out of Lanseria Airport and Johannesburg International. “I find the people more operationally friendly at Lanseria. Quite frankly I would like to deal only with Lanseria as they are more approachable and appear to be better trained,” he said. Tramon Air provides cargo and passenger charters into Africa. Its cargo flights include those for dangerous goods which are CAA and SAPS approved.
