INITIALLY INTRODUCED to maximise warehouse
space, IT solutions for warehousing have evolved into
a fully integrated part of the entire supply chain.
“Our system synchronises with all our modules
from transport and distribution right through to
invoicing, allowing for complete transparency and
monitoring of cargo at each phase in the chain,” says
Werner Pretorius, head of warehousing solutions at
Compu-Clearing.
STASH, the warehouse module, now includes
a swop and repair modification for stored items.
“It will track the individual units and create a full
log for each item to provide full historical data and
events. More cargo owners and freight forwarders
are demanding full management of cargo in the
warehouses, and this is where we come in.”
Clients are able to log on over the internet and
view a virtual warehouse, and then place moveorders
without having to phone the warehouse
manager to do so.
The recent power outages and unreliability of
electricity supply are no cause for concern, says
Pretorius. “We host the information and store it in
our databases on our servers, which are backed up by
generators so the system is always on-line. “
