THE EASTERN Cape government is funding the revival of airports in the province – and is now looking for investors. “Our doors are wide open for any investor that wants to come forward and add value in our Blue Skyway Aviation Strategy, which seeks to inject new life into our airports,” says Roads and Transport MEC Gloria Barry. She was announcing the appointment of architects to lead a R60-million upgrade of Mthatha Airport. Barry says the upgrade will take around 24 months. A R78-million upgrade to the Bhisho airport that was also funded by the province has been completed.
