Ray Smuts A SUCCESSOR to former Cape Town container terminal manager Ian Bouwer is likely to be named some time this month (July) and the word is that a South African will not be running the show. Nad Govender, who is responsible for all SA Port Operations activity in the Ports of Cape Town and Saldanha, told FTW last week that interest in the post had been ‘fair’ and that the international shortlist had been trimmed from eight to two candidates. “Our objective is to bring international expertise to Cape Town’s container terminal,” he said. Bouwer resigned rather unexpectedly earlier this year to join former Portnet port services manager Malcolm Green at Woolworths subsidiary Universal Product Networks from June 1. Yacoob Hartley has been acting since then.
