‘Often the most cost-effective option’ THE TREND towards outsourced recruitment has grown substantially year-on-year. “It makes a lot of sense,” says Kim Meszaros, marketing manager of Kelly Industrial, which specialises in permanent and outsourced recruitment in the supply chain management, logistics and retail sectors. Kelly Industrial will manage every aspect of the employment process, says Meszaros. “This ranges from industrial relations and human resources to recruitment and payroll.” A division of LogicalOptions Staffing, the company has 10 000 flexi employees on its books. Its AA BEE rating counts towards clients’ empowerment scorecards and affects their workplace skills plans, providing additional benefits, she added. Meszaros believes that outsourcing is often the most cost-effective option. “We handle the entire process including payroll, which saves the client significantly in administrative costs.” One of the big problems facing the industry at large is skills shortages. While Kelly Industrial does not get involved in training on a generic basis, it will upskill workers for particular clients where this is required, says Meszaros. The company has a network of 11 branches in KwaZulu Natal, Western Cape, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.
