Matching software solutions
to industry expectations
is the value proposition
that Forte Supply Chain
Consulting brings to the
table.
According
to Forte’s
Renko Bergh,
companies
often invest
huge amounts
of time, effort
and money
in having
a system
developed only
to find it does
not necessarily
meet their
expectations.
“Because we
have a very strong industry
focus we ensure that a
company’s system needs
are met in a realistic and
practical manner,” he told
FTW. “We are the providers
of the systems and we bring
industry experience. We
facilitate and ensure that
the system that is being
implemented is relevant, easy
to use and customisable to
the particular business.”
Solutions are provided
within three segments of the
supply chain
– transport,
warehousing
and inventory.
“The
company
started by
servicing the
transport
sector only,”
said Bergh.
“Two years ago
we introduced
the warehouse
component.
The inventory
solution is the latest addition
to our service offering and
takes us a step closer to our
goal of offering this service
across all the different
segments of the supply chain,
making it more transparent
and easier to integrate.”
The approach, said
Bergh, allowed logistics
companies to focus on their
core business and not be
overwhelmed by systems and
technology.
“Whether in the transport,
warehouse or inventory
sector, our job is to take the
needs and challenges of a
business, interpret them
and implement a workable
system,” he said.
With offices in
Johannesburg, Cape Town,
Namibia and soon in Durban,
Forte services the entire
southern African region.
“One of the benefits of
this approach is that even
though different systems are
implemented in different
sectors of the supply chain,
we can bring them together
to speak to each other
as we are the common
denominator,”
he said. “We facilitate the
flow of data between the
sectors ensuring a more
efficient supply chain all
round.”
And because Forte
does not own the
software, its
income stream is
linked to the value
we add. “Our
existence as Forte
project leaders is
based on the value
we add through the
systems rather than
the system itself.”
