Industry calls for NRCS workshop

Industry has called on the
National Regulator for
Compulsory Specifications
(NRCS) to give an
indication of when a
workshop can be held
before business closes down
for the year.
This comes after
Parliament’s portfolio
committee on trade and
industry in October
instructed the regulator to
process and issue all letters
of authority within 120
calendar days as opposed to
the 120 working days which
has applied in the past.
The NRCS also undertook
to meet with industry
before the end of December
in an effort to establish a
closer working relationship
and to try to find ways of
addressing some of the
challenges faced – including
duplicate processes taking
place, increased costs and
long delays.
At the time of going to
press no date had yet been
established despite ongoing
attempts by industry to set
up the workshop.
