ICS sets accreditation programme in motion

THE INSTITUTE of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS) has appointed a project manager to facilitate its application for accreditation with the Transport Education and Training Authority (Teta) on the road to implementing an FET certificate in shipping. This is on track for 2008, administration manager Fiona de Goede told FTW. It’s an important next step in a productive programme for the Institute which included an education seminar in London earlier this year, attended by delegates from ICS Distance Learning Centres from all over the world. The pre-exam prep weekend, subsidised by the ICS education fund, appears to have paid off. Local TutorShip students once again excelled, says De Goede, recording a 63% pass rate. In line with its social responsibility programme, ICS handed five Understanding Shipping bursaries to deserving learners at the New Forest High School. “Two new options have been made available for students wishing to complete the Foundation Diploma: Multi-modal Transport and Logistics or the new Port and Terminal Management subjects.”
