Hijack in Heidelberg

Hijackers targeted the Heidelberg ‘hotspot’ last night when a driver stopped to buy food. “This area is increasingly becoming a problem,” said Combined Private Investigations’ Johan Robinson. “A jammer was once again used in an attempt to block out the tracking units. CPI recovered the container and cargo intact in City Deep as only the truck and trailer units were affected,” he told FTW Online.

Robinson has urged all transporters to religiously follow the standard operating procedures.

“We expect the attacks to increase over the high season and recommend that drivers be advised not to stop between Johannesburg and Heidelberg. If they need to buy food they should do so before they take on the container or when they pass the Harrismith area.”

According to Robinson it has been confirmed that Zimbabweans were responsible for the hijacking.
