THE NUMBER of hacking web sites has increased by a massive 45% in the last year, bringing the total number to a staggering 6 000 sites. That’s according to I-Fusion, the networking company within the Bidvest Group, which warns that hacking tools used by employees within organisations may be the biggest security threat to emerge this year. “Hacking leads to increased network vulnerability, lost data and wasted time and resources. We strongly advise that network administrators take this threat seriously and take stringent security measures to prevent attacks,” says I-Fusion executive director Julian Liebenberg. Most hacking web sites contain archives of available hacking tools, such as denial of service attack software and password crackers. These sites also offer free downloads of hacker programmes which allow employees to be self-taught, he added. “At I-Fusion we offer comprehensive security to all our network installations.”
