Totalpost Services PLC, a leading provider of threat detection machinery, officially opened its Gauteng headquarters in Midrand recently. The British-headquartered company has been operational since July last year, with a satellite office in Cape Town, and already has plans to expand to other regions in the country. Exclusive suppliers of the Astrophysics Inc range of X-ray security screening machinery, the company is one of the leading suppliers of this equipment to Heathrow Airport‘s freight handlers. According to Brad Howard, Totalpost Services South Africa director, the expansion into South Africa has been very well received and the team has already made a number of key installations of X-ray screening equipment across the country. He said the decision to expand into South Africa was closely linked to the growing interest in Africa and the company runs an African department from its Gauteng office. “Our goal is to have satellite offices in all the regions in the country. Plans are already in the pipeline for this expansion. In fact, we hope to open our next satellite office within the next six months in Durban.” Speaking at the launch in Johannesburg the Totalpost Services PLC managing director David Hymers said when the opportunity arose to expand their business into South Africa there was no hesitation. Hymers said he was optimistic about the company growing its footprint both locally and further into Africa. “We have also just countersigned a contract with ACS to maintain its two large Astrophysics dual view pallet screening systems, which is great news,” he said. Hymers said there was major benefit to the freight industry having a local supplier of screening machines for parcels, packages and cargo. “We are in this for the long term. We have some great products at fair prices and a team here who are dedicated to our customers and the company’s growth.” INSERT Our goal is to have satellite offices in all the regions in the country. – Brad Howard CAPTION Totalpost Services PLC managing director David Hymers with the South African team.
