LAST WEEK saw the official launch in Cape Town of a one-stop environment for importers and exporters when Freight City made its official debut.
The concept had its beginnings some five years ago when Freight City managing director Peter Stoffberg came up with the idea of providing a complete logistics service under one roof encompassing every link in the transport chain.
The facility is now up and running, bringing together the services of Turners Shipping, Swift Couriers, Triton International and Triton Container Trading Africa, Trans Ocean Distribution and Maryke Vervoer within the independent Freight City depot environment. The final leg will be the switching on of our LCL customs licence, scheduled for mid-December, Stoffberg told FTW.
Everyone loves the concept. It combines the strengths of the various companies, without restricting the client who has has total freedom of choice.
