RAY SMUTS AN EXPEDITIOUS conclusion to a probe into “alleged irregularities” by Fresh Produce Terminals’ MD Ronnie Kingwill, is clearly taking a lot longer than anticipated. FPT chairman Dr Dawie Ferreira was away at week’s end and therefore not available for comment but a source within the organisation expressed dismay over the duration of the enquiry. “We have not heard a thing,” FTW was told. The specialised reefer sector, main customers of FPT, remains mum on the nature of the allegations under investigation, as does Ferreira, who declines to be drawn on detail except to admit this is a very sensitive matter. Kingwill, a former GM for containers at the then Portnet, became MD of FPT in 2001. He was suspended from duty in February this year.
