KEVIN MAYHEW RECENT LARGE scale restructuring within Shipping Consolidated Holdings has resulted in the company becoming a member of the large road based black economic empowerment company, African Heritage Investments. According to the manager of the company’s office at Gateway Truck Stop, Elize van der Merwe, the main reason for the restructuring was to position the company to meet future challenges and strengthen its capabilities in various areas that are critical to its future growth. Shipping Consolidated Clearing and Forwarding is a division of Shipping Consolidated Holdings. Shipping Consolidated Clearing and Forwarding Beitbridge established itself in May 2002 and has since proved itself to be an effective operator in the area to handle road clearances into and out of South Africa, says Van der Merwe. “We have access to a warehouse in Durban through Shipping Consolidated Warehousing for both customs bonded and normal cargo that is being exported from southern Africa, and for imports into the region, as well as the staging of cargo. “The warehouse can handle break bulk as well as containerised cargo,” Van der Merwe said.
