Increased demand for forklifts points to a revival in parts of the logistics industry, says Sean Gent, managing director of Matola Cargo Terminal (MCT), which is the Mozambican agent for Toyota forklifts.

“We are signing new contracts for Toyota forklifts and receiving many requests for quotations on various forklift configurations across the country. “Demand is coming from warehouses handling products like tobacco, cold drinks and beer.

“We expect demand to remain strong for the rest of the year,” he says. Gent sees the demand for forklifts as one of the signs that the Mozambican economy is showing signs of growth.

Economic growth is forecast to be around 3.3% in 2018 and 3.5% in 2019. There are a variety of options provided for the forklifts, from outright purchase through leasing to renting for short term (one day to 12 months) or longer term (three to five years).

Economic growth is forecast to be around 3.3% in 2018 and 3.5% in 2019.
