BECAUSE OF the layout of the rates tables released to FTW by Portnet, last week's story on the April 1 tariff increases by the Port Authority Division (PAD) implied that coastal and transhipment cargoes were not subject to wharfage charges.
However, the section which appeared as Coastal wharfage - Nil and Transhipment wharfage - Nil should not be read as no wharfage payable. The nil in each case refers to the average percentage increase and actually meant no increase over the previous wharfage rating.
