The first Online Expo in SA, organised by the publishers of FTW, attracted almost three times as many people as expected.
The Now Media Show, a one-day expo aimed at marketing managers, featured exhibitors and a line-up of authoritative speakers on issues affecting marketing. The event was designed to demonstrate how the technology works.
It emulates a traditional show and can be used to reach geographically spread target audiences like freight forwarders in southern Africa, says organiser Natalie Cumberledge. Future shows will specifically target importers, exporters and forwarders. Natalie, who comes from a background of running traditional consumer and specialist shows, said that the attendance of 399 had smashed expectations.
“It enabled exhibitors to reach people who could not afford the time or cost of leaving their workstation,” she said. Reshma Diva in Tshwane summed it up: “Love the idea. The way of future expos. Great for delegates who can now interact with suppliers and get updated on products via a virtual show! Well done!”
