World Net Logistics’ decision to invest in a major infrastructure expansion in the Western Cape is bearing fruit. Completed in 2017, the new warehouse and office space in Airport Industria in Cape Town has been a growth catalyst for the logistics service provider which plans to extend its footprint in the province even further. According to branch manager Stacey Roux, the new space has allowed the company to spread its wings. “Having grown at an exponential rate, we needed to invest in additional space. This allows us to continue servicing our existing warehousing clients as well as to cater for additional future growth opportunities,” she said. “Furthermore, we identified growth potential in Cape
Town and the Western Cape and the company took the decision to invest in new premises which is paying off as we have seen – and continue to experience – growth in sales.” With a stacking volume of 34 650 cubic metres, the new warehouse and offices had brought clients on board that previously had not considered outsourced warehousing, said Roux. “We have a range of customers from small to medium-sized companies to very large businesses,” she said. “In the current economic environment companies are looking for ways to save money, to do it better, quicker and faster. Increasing our capacity has given us the ability to expand our service offering and meet those very needs.” Food grade and fully automated, the new premises
were ideally situated in close proximity to the airport in Cape Town, she added. “We have a strategy in place to increase our airfreight volumes in the coming months.” The company is already handling a fair amount of volume in the wine industry, which has been identified as a growth sector. “We still have capacity in our new infrastructure and the goal is to fill this space. “We remain extremely positive about the province,” said Roux. “Whilst
there is some uncertainty considering the election and the difficult economic times, our approach is to add value to our clients by ensuring their supply chain is cost effective and more efficient than ever before. This investment allows us to bring that value add.”
