EU lifts ban on Swazi aircraft

MBABANE – The European Union (EU) has lifted a ban on Swazi-registered aircraft using European airspace. Attorney General Majahenkhaba Dlamini told Parliament last week that the ban had been imposed because foreignowned aircraft registered in Swaziland were not airworthy, and there were so many incidents of this that the country’s entire aircraft registry was considered suspect. Government has asked the EU to review its ban in preparation for a new Swaziland national airline. The governmentowned air carrier was to begin operations in April 2014 according to the country’s civil aviation authority. However, April ended and no Swaziland airline or any noticeable work toward its realisation.
