In a move that will provide specialist services to clients in the excise duties and levies arena, Turners Shipping has established an excise division headed up by Gregory Marks as national excise manager. Marks is a former national specialist at SA Revenue Service. The new division was introduced to Turners’ petroleum clients at two workshops hosted in Johannesburg and Cape Town recently. “But excise isn’t limited to petroleum products, alcohol and tobacco.
Other products are also subject to excise duties and ever-growing environmental and other levies such as the health promotion levy,” he said. The new division will provide consultancy and advisory services, supply chain legislative compliance, account maintenance, compliance assessments and audits, and training.
