Hutchison Ports Europe Container Terminals Rotterdam (ECT), United Waalhaven Terminals and independent reefer service company Smith Holland will launch an empty container transferium in the second quarter of 2018.
The facility will be located at Maasvlakte’s ECT Euromax terminal at the Port of Rotterdam and is intended for both ordinary and refrigerated ‘reefer’ containers.
Services on offer will include the transport of empty containers to and from the transferium, inspection and cleaning, minor repairs to the container and the reefer refrigeration system as well as a pre-trip inspection of containers.
“It makes sense to provide these services on location at the deep sea terminal since this minimises the delay before a container can be put back into service,” said an ECT spokesperson.
