Itac Responds to Customs Duty on Wheat In recent weeks the national newspapers have published articles in respect of the customs duty (duty) dispensation on wheat. When the initial articles were published in late January we pointed out that the amendment to the tariff dispensation on wheat had appeared in the Government Gazette of 19 December 2008. If you read the newspaper articles in isolation, the impression might well have been created that the matter only rose in prominence in mid January 2009. If you are interested, Itac published a half page advertorial which appeared in the Business Day of 03 February 2009 on this matter titled “Import Tariffs on Wheat”.
