TERRY HUTSON DURBAN HAS a new port engineer, although he’s been doing the job for some time. Rajan Chetty was appointed port engineer of the port of Durban after having acted in the position since early 2003, following the departure of the previous port engineer Pat Raw. Chetty’s career with Transnet began in 1994 when he joined Metro Rail after completing a BSc Engineering degree at the University of Natal. Having a fascination for the engineering developments at the port of Durban he transferred to Portnet in January 1995.
