From page 1 Toledo’s cavernous decks have space for 6 350 vehicles, making the vessel one of the larger car carriers in the Wallenius Wilhelmsen service, although on this occasion the approximately 700 units for Durban would hardly have dented her capacity. The 201m long Toledo is a sister vessel to another of Wallenius Wilhelmsen’s car carriers, Torrens, which has already been to South African ports. Bongani Nzozo, commercial manager at the Durban Car Terminal, told FTW that well above the budgeted 160 000 vehicles were handled by the terminal during 2004. As a result of this growth further extensions to the car terminal are becoming urgent. For example, during the recent Easter weekend another car carrier, Grand Mark, delivered just under 3 000 Korean-manufactured motor vehicles, which Nzozo says stretched the terminal resources to the limit
