I agree with Mr Mohamed. I am a female who has worked in the shipping industry for over 20 years, starting as a telex operator, moving up to senior export controller cum supervisor. I handled with distinction some export clients, helping the country to bring in billions of dollars in foreign exchange currency. I paid my dues and taxes and earned the pride of all and sundry in the shipping industry. Due to unforeseen circumstances I had to look out for a position as senior export controller. However, because I do not have a matric, which was not a prerequisite originally, I am struggling to obtain employment. I know that I have at least 10 very good years left in me. Is this the way to treat someone who, for over 20 years, contributed to the economy of this country? It’s shameful and should be a human rights issue. To think of all the long hours and immense sacrifices I have made to the industry is indeed painful in the extreme. No name supplied
Dumped by the industry with 20 years’ experience and no matric
