Airfreight drives the world economy, according to the International Air Transport Association (Iata) – which represents some 230 airlines in over 115 countries, and carries 93% of the world’s international scheduled traffic. The products these airlines carry represent 35% of the total value of goods traded internationally, and, in 2009, this totalled 26-million tonnes of cargo. By 2014, this is predicted to increase to 38-million tonnes.
