Draughtsman turned airline GSA

HARD WORK paid off, is how Anne Sanders of GSAfrica described her climb to the top. It started in the Copper Belt in Zambia, where Sanders was born and spent half her school life before the family moved to SA and she completed her school education. When she graduated, she started her working career in marketing and distribution for the car manufacturers, Sigma Motor Corporation, and while there, Sanders married and had two children. Later in her life, she went back to studying, and finally qualified as a civil draughtsman. “But that was too boring,” Sanders told FTW, “and I took the opportunity to get into the air cargo industry, ending up at SAA Cargo, “which is where I learnt a lot of what I do today.” And that today started two years ago when Sanders was approached by a potential partner to start-up GSAfrica. “At that time,” she said, “Thai and Delta Airline had both started flying into SA as the new kids on the block. “I made a presentation to both of them, and won the contracts.” That was two years ago, and things have gone along swimmingly. Said Sanders: “We have been very successful, and now also have offices in Kenya and Senegal as well as Cape Town and Johannesburg – and soon to open in Mauritius.”
