CONTAINERISED CARGO destined for Assab and Masawa can now be shipped through Durban following the appointment of Diamond Shipping as agents for Ethiopian Shipping Lines.
Once the business is sufficient to service the Red Sea directly from Durban, vessels will call in here, but for the time being we will take slots on nominated lines from Durban to Dubai and tranship to Ethiopian Line vessels there, says
Diamond Shipping m.d. Brian Hawkins.
Ethiopian Lines operate a 10-day service between Mumbai, Dubai, Assab and Masawa.
They carry breakbulk and container loads on a fleet of multi-purpose vessels, but we will be handling containers only from this end, says Hawkins.
