WITH THE appointment this month of Rob de Laaf as regional sales manager of Diamond Shipping, agents for Taiwanese Yang Ming Line, the recently-established Gauteng office is running at full speed.
Operating from its new Sandton premises under branch manager Hennie van der Westhuizen, Diamond has attracted an experienced team.
Van der Westhuizen has wide-ranging experience in all facets of the industry, most recently a commercial manager at Gearbulk where he was involved primarily in breakbulk trade with the Far East, North West Continent and US Gulf.
De Laaf joined the company from Rennies where he was regional sales manager.
Completing the team are sales executive Dave Harvey, freight desk consultant Paula Carvalho, and receptionist Marilyn van der Westhuizen.
Yang Ming, as members of the Kien Hung/DSR Senator pool, offer direct services between Cape Town, Durban, PE and Singapore, Hong Kong, Busan, Keelung and Kaohsiung in the Far East; Buenos Aires, Santos and Montevideo in South America.
In addition we offer transhipment services to most destinations in the Far East, South East Asia, India and Mainland China, Van der Westhuizen told FTW.
