KEVIN MAYHEW GERMANY WILL take an active role in the development of Africa alongside other European nations, according to the managing director of Deutsche Afrika-Linien (DAL), Dr Eberhart von Rantzau seen left in the picture with the chairman of Sun International, Buddy Hawton. Dr von Rantzau was in Johannesburg recently to celebrate the launch of DAL's new vessel for the European trade, the DAL Kalahari, which joins the SA – Europe Container Service this month. “We are very close to the government of Germany and can say quite categorically that it will be actively involved in Africa’s future,” he said. Referring to local infrastructure, he said he was confident that local capacity would meet the loading, handling and warehousing requirements of the new ship.
