A WARNING has gone out from customs in Durban that it has built up a huge sum in old, outstanding provisional payments. In a strongly worded letter to the forwarding industry in January, they stressed that some R136-million was still outstanding, and warned that - if not finalised - they “are entitled to estreat expired provisional payments to revenue” and to still call for underpaid duties, penalties etc. This could prove a costly affair for anyone with outstanding provisional payments, and customs have urged that they be finalised “urgently”. ‘Finalise or lose out’
