CT port opens to the public

Ntsika Jones (Grade 10) and
Olwethu Maneli (Grade 11) of
the Lawhill Maritime Centre
in Simon’s Town on board the
salvage tug Smit Amandla at
the Port of Cape Town which
was opened to the public at
the recent port festival.
Organised by Transnet
National Ports Authority,
the festival is part of a series
of such events aimed at
reintegrating the ports with
their communities. In Cape
Town people f locked to the
port to enjoy vessel tours,
a craft market and food
stalls, kids’ entertainment
and live performances by
a host of South African
artists and DJs.
