Port of Ngqura manager

Mpumi Dweba has been

appointed as the new port

manager in Cape Town.

She takes over from

Sipho Nzuza who returns to

Durban where he has taken

up the position of eThekwini

municipality’s city manager.

Dweba becomes the first

female port manager in

Cape Town.

“She has very solid

experience in port

operations, supply chain

logistics and the maritime

industry,” said Transnet

National Ports Authority

chief executive, Richard

Vallihu. He said Dweba

had played an integral role

in delivering on TNPA’s

strategy to operationalise

the Port of Ngqura and

position it as a major

container transhipment hub.

FTW has learned that

Tandi Lebakeng, current

port manager in Mossel Bay,

has been transferred to the

Port of Ngqura to succeed

Dweba. It is unclear at this

stage who will take over the

management of the Port of

Mossel Bay.
