Crew member dies on Sea-Land Express

RAY SMUTS THE ILL-fated ship Sea-Land Express arrived in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon (September 5) to take on and discharge cargo, but at the same time fulfil a sad task, delivering the body of a crew member who died en route to South Africa. The dead man, Dwayne Lamar Gordon (35), was the bosun on the American-flagged container ship, married with three children. It is understood he had an asthmatic condition but the cause of death will be established in the Mother City before the body is repatriated to the United States.
