Courier programme offers totally integrated solution

TEN YEARS since its initial launch, the windows-based programme developed by Unico International for the courier industry has more than stood the test of time. “It’s a totally integrated solution,” says sales consultant Sandra Hartmann. “It begins from the collection point when a collection screen generates a unique reference number. This goes down to the various route operators, the driver comes back with the parcel and scans it into the warehouse where it does the trip sheets, the manifesting, the costing and proof of delivery (POD). “It literally takes the user from the beginning to the end of the whole transport system.” But flexibility is crucial, says managing director Manoli Rodokanakis. “The core product goes in but the solution is related to the functional operational requirements of the client. In order to make the data meaningful it’s a matter of customising to companies’ individual needs. “Every business has its own quirks so we’re constantly adding facilities based on customer needs. “The reporting phase is crucial. Data is useless until it becomes useful information. Good reports extract data and turn it into easily comprehensible information which gives the customer the business benefit of knowing exactly what parameters are driving his business and exactly where he may be slipping up.”
