Courier package provides instant profitability barometer

Practical and simple-to-use windows-based solution

Joy Orlek
A SOFTWARE system that instantly determines whether a courier shipment is profitable or not is the solution on offer from Johannesburg-based Velocity Software Solutions.
Developed by IT professional Zaid Boomberg, who has the practical and theoretical experience to make the system work, it’s been designed to meet the needs of small and medium-sized businesses.
The application is all-encompassing, says Boomberg, providing a range of facilities from invoicing, waybill tracking and volumetric calculations, to the monitoring of running costs and POD (Proof of Delivery) logging.
It was developed in conjunction with express operator Designated Couriers and gives the client the tools to administer his business as easily as possible, says Boomberg.
Having run his own small business for several years, he is aware of the financial constraints facing SMMEs. “Every cent must be well spent, and the system has been built with this in mind.
“We consider the client’s budget and his requirements, and adjust the programme to suit those parameters.”
Boomberg has been involved in the IT industry for the past 20 years and has developed a number of IT applications for the small banking sector. He was approached by Designated Couriers, who could not find an application to suit their budget and their needs. The result is a simple-to-use, uncluttered, practical solution that can be run on any windows platform, says Boomberg.
Free training is provided and while the company retains one standard version of the application, if a client requests an enhancement that is likely to benefit the rest of the client base, this will be considered at no charge to the benefit of everyone.
