AMID CONTINUING allegations of widespread bribery at customs posts in Zimbabwe, a customs official has been dismissed for taking a R1 000 bribe at Harare airport to allow a traveller to clear goods without duty.
Departmental director Ranga Munyaradzi says the official will be prosecuted in court.
This has done nothing to still the allegations of corruption, which are said to be particularly bad at Harare airport. Some shippers say that customs officers are demanding bribes merely to carry out their jobs and clear goods legally.
