Containers a small part of shipping mix

Container shipments make
up just 15% of total global sea
freight by tonnage, according
to the 2015 United Nations
Conference on Trade and
Development (Unctad) Review
of Maritime Transport.
This share is however
growing. Containerised
trade is estimated to have
increased by 5.6%, taking
the total to 1.63 billion tons
in 2014.
Crude oil, at 17%, makes
up the largest percentage of
the tonnage carried.
