Consolidation demand keeps 8-ton trucks busy

Despite its many potholes and the poor state of its roads, Angola remains a key destination for consolidator Unlimited Logistics, says Johan Claassen. He says consolidation demand keeps the company’s 8-ton trucks very busy from South Africa to Angola. But doing business is not easy when getting the goods there is impeded by the poor quality of Angolan roads. “In all the years I’ve been in this business I have not seen the roads in such a poor condition.” Claassen says the trade from Angola is highly dependent on the currency exchange rate and the money restrictions going out of the country. However, he says consolidated loads have picked up immensely. Claassen says it takes a special quality to make it in the world of consolidations. “Very few succeed, and one of the secrets of success is having a quick turn-around time on consolidated loads. “Having established ourselves in the market, we are able to handle the complete import/export process swiftly once we get the business,” he adds.
